Automotive industry

We manufacture technical plastic parts for automotive applications with high dimensional accuracy, documented quality and series-capable processes.

Automotive industry: requirements for injection moulded parts

The automotive industry places high demands on technical plastic parts. Tight tolerances, reproducible quality, durable materials and economical processes across the entire product lifecycle are required.

Injection moulding is a central process in automotive manufacturing for functional and visible components. It enables the precise production of complex geometries in high volumes and supports part-appropriate design for assembly, weight and cost.

For suppliers and OEM-near projects, process security, series capability and documented quality processes are especially decisive. This is where a manufacturing partner matters – one who aligns development, prototyping, toolmaking and series production effectively.

Our solutions for the automotive industry

Typical applications

  • Automotive injection moulding for interior parts such as trim panels, brackets, covers and control elements
  • Plastic parts for technical applications in vehicle interior and exterior
  • Housings, carriers, clips and functional components for electrical and mechanical assemblies
  • Plastic components for the engine compartment with increased requirements for temperature and media resistance
  • Assembly-ready series parts for supplier assemblies and pre-assembled units

Materials and special requirements

For plastic parts in the automotive industry, standard plastics, engineering plastics and high-performance compounds are used depending on the application. Properties such as temperature resistance, impact strength, dimensional stability, media resistance, good surface quality and reliable long-term behaviour are decisive.

Typical requirements in automotive projects include:

  • Dimensional accuracy on function-critical geometries
  • Low warpage and stable process windows in series production
  • Surface quality for visible components
  • Mechanical load capacity for clips, latches and brackets
  • Temperature-resistant plastics for use in heat-stressed areas
  • Documented quality requirements and aligned inspection plans
  • Where required, implementation of customer-specific standards, material approvals and traceability specifications

Technical competence

Manufacturing and quality assurance

For automotive applications, the mastered process chain matters more than an isolated machine. That is why we group our machine park into meaningful manufacturing clusters for prototypes, pre-series, technical series parts and volume-stable series production.

This is complemented by defined quality processes, series-accompanying inspections and close alignment of tool, material and process parameters. The result is reproducible outcomes for certified series production, short response times to changes and reliable release processes for technical plastic parts.

Experience in the industry

The automotive industry requires a strong understanding of part function, tolerance chains and economical scaling. Our experience lies in implementing technical injection moulding projects where design, tool technology and the series process are considered together from an early stage.

This is particularly relevant for engineers, designers, buyers and project managers looking for a partner for plastic parts who assesses technical requirements comprehensibly and translates them into stable manufacturing processes. Whether a visible interior part, a robust functional component or an assembly-ready series component – the safe transfer into the series process is always what counts.

Project example from practice

Drive shaft as pre-assembled injection moulded assembly for a detachable tow bar in the automotive industry

Starting point
An automotive supplier was looking for a partner to develop and series-produce a drive shaft as a complete assembly for a detachable tow bar. The assembly was to consist of a metal shaft with an ergonomic plastic grip, three coloured marker caps for status indication and a dust cap for the keyhole, meeting the high safety and quality requirements of the automotive industry.
Solution
Several specific injection moulding tools were designed for the various components so that grip, marker caps and dust cap could each be produced in a plastic-appropriate and process-secure manner. The plastic parts are manufactured in our injection moulding process, inspected and then pre-assembled into the complete assembly, so that the marker caps clearly indicate the functional states of the tow bar and the dust cap reliably protects the keyhole from dirt.
Result
The result is a robust, assembly-ready drive shaft as a plastic-metal assembly that safely transmits high torques, enables intuitive operation via the grip and provides clear feedback on the locking status of the tow bar through coloured markers. The customer benefits from an economical injection moulding solution for the automotive industry with multiple injection moulding tools, stable series ramp-ups and just-in-time delivery of the fully pre-assembled assembly directly into their assembly line.
